Coca-Cola (Syrup to Carbonated Beverage)

vrindaagarwal04

John S. Pemberton (1831–88), an Atlanta pharmacist, invented Coca-Cola in 1886 at his Pemberton Chemical Company.

Frank Robinson, his bookkeeper, chose the drink's name and scribbled it in the flowing font that became the Coca-Cola logo.

Pemberton advertised his drink as a remedy for most common ailments, based it on cocaine from the coca leaf and caffeine-rich kola nut extracts; the cocaine was removed from the Coca-Cola formula in around 1903.

Pemberton sold his syrup to local soda fountains, and the drink became a huge hit thanks to advertising.

By 1891, another Atlanta pharmacist, Asa Griggs Candler (1851–1929), had acqui full ownership of the company (for a total financial investment of $2,300 plus the exchange of some property rights), and the Coca-Cola Company was formed the following year.

In 1893, the trademark "Coca-Cola" was registered with the United States Patent Office.

In 2005 the company introduced Coca-Cola Zero, a zero-calorie soft drink with the taste of regular Coca-Cola.

Outside of the United States, the firm has continued to buy or invest in brands that respond to the growing number of beverage options accessible to customers worldwide. Just a few of the recent global acquisitions or investments include AdeS, a Latin American brand; Chi Limited, a successful West African maker of dairy and juice beverages; and China Culliangwang, a manufacturer of plant-based protein drinks made from high-quality agricultural sources.
